Are you a Doer or a Talker?
When Chris first spoke to me about her career, she was angry.
Chris was my corporate client who had hired me for several speaking engagements, and now she reached out for help with her personal career goals.
Chris was an overachiever.
Delivered above and beyond, again and again.
And again and again, passed over for the one last promotion she wanted to cap off her corporate career.
Whatever she was doing wasn’t working.
And what wasn’t working was the People part.
Most people fall into one of 2 camps….
The Doers and the Talkers.
Each camp often looks down on the other.
Doers believe Talkers lack ethics and “don’t know their Tasks”
Talkers believe Doers lack strategic focus and “don’t know their People.”
Both are wrong.
Because all of work, of life, is both Task and People.
Being practical - efficient and effective - means you need to be good at both:
1. People smart.
2. Task smart.
People smart includes:
1. Relationship skills.
2. Self-promotion skills (branding, visibility).
Task smart is…
Having concrete skills for your job - leadership skills or technical skills as an individual contributor - that carry you over when your luck (and political manoeuvring) turns sour.
All it takes is a change in leadership to a new Doer boss who doesn’t respond to your sweet words for your world to be turned upside down when you don’t have a strong foundation (or team reporting to you) to deliver.
For the Doers like Chris that I coach, much resentment builds up when you don’t get the recognition, promotion, salary or job security you feel you deserve for excelling at delivering the task.
Often what you’re missing is
People is not separate from Task.
People comes UNDER the Task umbrella.
Because all Tasks involve People.
Once Chris “got” this, once my other clients get this, everything shifts.
Instead of resenting the People who “got in the way” of what she wanted.
Chris learned how to excel at the People part.
And so, she got what she wanted - achieving new heights at her role, and now landing her dream job in the midst of a horrible job market.
In the last 3 weeks I’ve been happy to receive feedback from 5 past 1:1 leadership coaching and speaking event clients, including Chris.
Sharing how even long after we stopped working together, they continued to apply what they learned to achieve their goals to move further and farther ahead.
And that makes me Happy.
People who know me will tell you I’m a very practical, results focused person.
And so when your ROI continues beyond the confines of our speaking engagement or coaching program
When you get what you need / want
That means I’ve done my job.

In putting the final touches on our new website these past few weeks, there’s one thing I keep holding my team accountable to.
Cut out the fluff.
So many claims dressed up with fancy words that… don’t actually mean anything.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t have time for that in my life.
It’s also why I no longer have openings for coaching until January 2026 - I already have several people on waitlist + clients who finish their programs this month asked to extend the program and continue investing in themselves “because the program has been so useful.”
Coaching is an investment - and I’m just as committed to you getting your ROI as you are. Just as my own business coach and spiritual mentor are committed to supporting my growth and happiness ROI.
I’m really excited because our soon-to-launch website includes a free tool to help you on your journey even without us ever working together.
Coming to you soon sometime within a week’s time.
Stay tuned!
