You are not your fear

You are not your fear

𝗙𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿.

As we go through life, we often find ourselves carrying around burdens that don’t belong to us.

But, the hardest one of all?

Fear.

Whether it’s fear of failure, fear of judgment, or the deep-rooted fear of not being enough.

𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝘄𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴.

But I’m here to ask you:

Are you living your life to avoid fear?

Or are you ready to embrace the freedom that comes with letting go of it?

Let me tell you about Chris.

𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

But what many didn’t see was that beneath his tough exterior, he was hiding a deep fear.

Despite being a top performer, Chris struggled with low self-esteem.

𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗸𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹.

This became particularly evident when his boss recognized his achievements and asked if he wanted to take the next step—leading his department as the department head.

But Chris didn’t feel ready.

He lacked the confidence to take on this leadership role, and so, he turned it down.

The job went to someone else, and that’s when things started to unravel.

It wasn’t just about turning down the promotion.

At first, Chris believed it was because he simply didn’t want to take on 10x the responsibilities - from one small team of 5, to 6 teams, with his peers as his direct reports.

But deep down, he realized it was because he wasn't confident in his ability to step up, to lead, and to leave his comfort zone.

Over time, Chris and I worked on rebuilding his confidence, addressing communication issues, and tackling the underlying fear that was holding him back.

And then, something amazing happened.

𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 "𝘆𝗲𝘀" 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 - yes to showing up as a leader.

He said yes to hosting an important company event.

He said yes to speaking opportunities

We worked together on his speaking - and he nailed it.

So much so that, he was tapped to represent his company to be the key speaker for a major client event.

No longer did he sit back and wait for recognition—he stepped forward.

Chris embraced his leadership potential instead of hiding behind his "task" achievements.

He embraced leadership, not just as a role, but as an opportunity to inspire and influence others.

And… he said yes to a new leadership role.

Chris is now thriving.

His transformation is a powerful reminder that 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱-𝗼𝗻, 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄—𝘄𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲.

So, what does this mean for you.

If you’ve been letting fear control your life—whether it’s fear of failure, rejection, or judgment—now’s the time to ask yourself:

→ What are you really afraid of?

→ What’s the worst that could happen if you let go of that fear?

→ What’s the cost of not moving forward because of it?

Chris's transformation shows us that the biggest gift you can give yourself is the ability to face fear head-on, knowing that even if you stumble, you will rise again.

Are you ready to take that first step?

If you’ve been living in fear for too long, it can feel overwhelming to even begin to let it go.

But you don’t have to do it alone.

𝗜’𝗺 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆.

I’ve worked with countless individuals who’ve felt trapped by their own fears, and I’ve seen them break free.
